I have been able to send and receive files to my cnc. all of a sudden I can only send to the cnc and I am not able to receive from the cnc.

Receiving from the cnc is usually the easiest.
When you punch the program from the cnc do you get anything at all, even garbage, on the computer display?
If you get nothing at all then it may be a break in the cable. Send and receive use different wires inside rhe cable so its possible to break just one direction. Look to make sure there's no damage to the cable. If you can open up up the end connectors and check there's not a solder joint worked loose.
