If you got text that you recognize where every line contains some good characters and some bad characters but you can still see the line/structure of the code even though it's garbled then the problem is almost certainly the Parity.
In the DNC setup go to the parity and change that.
But if you got a load of good lines and then it tails off into garbage at the end of the file then it's a different problem.
Describe the garbage and we may be able to help. Maybe even paste a couple of lines into the page here. Not too many lines. Just 3 or 4 is enough. Don't want to clog up the forum with garbage :o)

Searched a few other sites and tried a different usb to rs-232 other than the prolific chipset , went with FDI Chipset and it worked.
Anyone have technical difference between the two ?

Some prolific drivers are bugged. Parity, if used, is the wrong way round. In some of them you set it to 7bitsEven and you get 7bitsOdd. Set to 7bitsOdd and you get 7bitsEven.
So, using something like 'EasyDncXP v4' you can set eaasydnc to 7bitsOdd and it works! Weird Huh?
There's a few different prolific chipsets out there used buy many different manufacturers and Windows 7 etc will commonly load the wrong one automatically. So go to the prolific website and get the latest/proper ones.
or use a different USB adapter such as FDI
