Hello,

I am curious to know if the DNC programs can be sent over straight network connections. The RemoDNC software only allows you to configure a COM port in the setup, however some of our new machines are coming with native ethernet ports so I was wondering if we still need to use a network-to-RS232 connection?

Thanks,

Rich

In the list of Com Ports scroll it back up to the very top and you'll see you can select network IP address.

But i don't think the CNC is capable of DNC-ing link that. RemoDNC will do it but I don't think the CNC can DNC through its ethernet port.

The IP option is in RemoDNC so that you can connect ethernet-RS232 boxes at the CNC and run over ethernet hat way.

If we use one DNC to control several CNC, how to connect by RS232 cable between a DNC PC to several COM Ports of CNC. Thanks.

If you want to connect RS232 all the way to the CNC and you want to connect multiple CNCs then you obviously need more RS232 ports at the computer.

You could purchase MultiPort Serial adapter. Usually a PCI card that you slot inside the computer that exposes 4, 8, 16 or more RS232 ports.

Or you can use a USB/RS232 box. a Single USB cable plugs into the computer and the 'box' then has a number of RS232 ports. The USB/RS232 option is usually cheaper than PCI.

Or you can connect Rs232 port servers to your business ethernet network or wifi.
