Topic:   Fanuc OP Controller not sending receiving data

By: GuestPosted on: Oct 7 2014 at 07:43:06 PM
I'm trying out the RemoDNC 5.0 software and I cannot get the CNC machine to receive or send any files, Ideally I would like to have this software working in REMO mode. Normally the request that we normally send from the Fanuc controller to the DNC looks like this:

O0001[/JUL2014/T1000[;

Based on that how should the request look to be able to receive the file at the CNC using REMO mode...

First of all i'd suggest ignoring remo for a moment. Make sure that you can send and receive files using the normal send receive functions (not using remo mode)

Once you know that you can send receive files (proving that all the communications paramemeters, baud rate etc, are all correct) you should take a look at this.

Remo Mode

I was able to send files to the CNC but it was not consistent, I could not upload multiple files back to back. I was not able to send files from the CNC to the DNC. When I was trying the Remo Mode I saw the request come through on the DNC but nothing else happened no files were downloaded and sent back to the CNC.

This instruction assumes you are using RemoDNC v5.

Go into the DNC Setup and the top half of the window shows common settings such as baud rate etc.

When you go into the setup window for the very first time the lower half of setup window has two tabs for settings specific to Send and Receive.

There is a checkbox "Enable Remo". When that is checked a third tab appears where you can select various options specific to the Remo/Remote mode.

One of the most important settings in Remo Setup is the "Remo Reqst Tag".

If your 'runner' program is O0001 then enter the text O0001 into the Reqst Tag box. Remo needs that so that it can recognize the runner. If it does not recognize the runner then Remo assumes the incoming file is just a file that needs to be stored to disk.

Other text can be entered into the Reqst Tag box but it's simpler if you just enter the relevant program name/number that you will use as your Runner.

Save and exit setup.

Now when you click the machine icon you will have 3 big buttons. Send, Receive and Remo. Click the big Remo button.

When Remo is enabled and waiting you will see a blue rotating wheel in the lower left corner of the program window. Just above that wheel is a link "Remo Log". Remo records a note of all actions during the current sessions.

Go now to the CNC and punch out your runner. At the computer/remo what do you see in that Log ?

If you don't see that blue rotating wheel and you don't see the link to the Log file then you have not correctly enabled/started Remo.

It might help if we saw your settings.

The software usually installs in the folder

c:\program files\RemoDNC

In that folder is a file called DNC.SETTINGS.ini (You might not see the last 3 letters of the file name but I'm sure you'll know which file I mean)

Send a copy of that file to us at

Once we have that we'll be able to reply direct to your email address.
