Topic: Error when trying to send files larger than 66,000 KB

| By: Carlos Coderch | Posted on: Oct 25 2024 at 02:50:32 AM | When I try to send a file larger than 66,000 KB the message “An unhandled exception occurred” type Siytem.OutOfmemory” appears on screen and recommends closing RemoDNC.
I am using a PC running Windows 7 Ultimate Servi pack 1, with an Intel Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU E6550 @2.33 GHz with 5 GB RAM (2.99 GB usable) - 32 bit OS type.
The Remo DNC is the demo version
Is it a problem with RemoDNC or with my PC? What is the solution? Thanks for your attention. | |

Does the error happen when opening the file getting the file into the window ready to send - before sending. Or does it happen when you click the Send button? | |

Have you done the Math? How fast are you sending the file. Sending 66MB at 9600bps will take all day. At least. Assuming there's no handshaking or other flow control.
Anyway.
I'm testing now with a file that is 121MB (One Hundred and Twenty One MegaBytes)
It took maybe 10 seconds for the whole file to be loaded into the EasyDnc/Remo Send window and it showed a spinner while it was loading the file.
When I clicked the Send button it locked up (not responding) for maybe 20 seconds or maybe a bit more while it figured out what to do then it started sending. Data scrolling up the screen as expected.
So handling very large files is not comfortable but, in my tests, it worked OK Your file is half the size of my test file so maybe your computer would handle the file better.
It's been sending now for around 15 minutes and the progress bar is still at 0%. File is so big that sending will likely take all day. I haven't done the math. 121MB at 9600bps? (960 chars per second)
I clicked the stop button and the program locked up again, window went blank for around 10 seconds and then display came back showing how far it had got.
My test computer is Windows 10 64bit and EasyDNC/RemoDNC will work in true 64 mode on a 64 bit computer but it shouldn't be a problem with a 32bit machine because the textbox size is a 32bit MaxInt
But if you do have a 64bit computer maybe you could try it just to see if you can load the file into the send window?
But another idea. Maybe the best option. Is to break the file into smaller sections making it easier to handle then you can run it at least once while you're watching You don't want to run it all night with nobody watching till you've tested it thoroughly. | |

La opción de dividir los ficheros es la que he utilizado para continuar trabajando, estoy mecanizando unas resinas y el programa se ejecuta en modo continuo por lo que el tiempo que tarda en transmitir el archivo tiene una poca importancia, el CNC es bastante antiguo y no tiene capacidad para almacenar programas tan grandes.
En realizar la prueba con el otro PC té informaré del resultado, gracias por tu atención | |

Se envió un fichero de 106.541 KB (106.5 MB) el fichero cargó en el RemoDNC en unos 10 segundos, cuando pulsé el botón SEND, la pantalla se puso en blanco , y después de unos 20 segundos empezó a transmitir. El programa ha estado en funcionamiento durante 46 horas.
Por mi parte tengo la solución al problema pasar a un sistema de 64 bits.
