We lost our old computer a while back and loaded the software on the new pc. The data transfer rate is very slow like it is buffering. I have been through the entire setup and everything is correct for the machine. the old pc was windows vista and new is windows 7. Are there any known issues with speed running in 64 bit with win 7?

64 bit shouldn't be a problem. Easydnc 4.7 is not a true 64bit program. Its quite old. But it should still work.
Especially that switch from vista to win7 shouldn't make any difference.
Are all the settings the same as they were on the vista computer? What about the hardware. The serial port. Is it a USB adapter? Try a different one and/download the device drivers from the usb device manufacturer's website. Don't trust the one installed automatically by windows.
